Collins snorted and said, "Frankly remembering that far back is hard. Seems like Roger was always with April and Benny was always a good guy. I guess that's why their...partings made things difficult. Roger was...more laid back. And Benny was...a good guy. Hard to believe I know." He shrugged knowing that Benny had showed Collins some support back when Angel was so sick. Even though some part of him was still utterly bitter, he couldn't haet his old friend anymore.
"Yeah they are..." Collins grinned and sighed in relief. "That wasn't so painful." He took a seat and ripped them off his feet. "Now...coud you break the price to me gently?" He asked winching in preparation.

Joanne shook her head, "Yeah, loosing close friends any way is really hard." She sighed. "And I guess being with Maureen makes me slightly biased towards Benny. She seems to... not get along with him so much. It's probably because him trying shut down her space." Smiling slightly she shrugged. "You know what they say... hell hath no fury and what not."
"See, if you go into these things with a positive attitude things will turn out of the best." Joanne said then looked at the price tag on the box. "$39.99 Well... thats not that bad." She said glancing back up at Collins questioningly.

Collins nodded trying not to roll his eyes. "Hell hath no fury is an understatement. I don't think that Benny and Maureen ever got along particularly well. Course they weren't like they are now. Everyone had their boiling points...theirs were just lower than everyone elses. Still are." He repacked the boots and put the box under his arm.
"$39.99? Not bad at all...I must say," Collins grinned and kissed Joanne's forehead. "Thanks sweet." He cupped her face and then slapped it gently with a smirk.

Joanne nodded knowingly. Her and Maureen fought quite a lot and she knew how on edge she could be about things. But it was pretty interesting to get a small insight about how their lives used to be. She hadn't known any of them before she started dating Maureen even Mimi had been close friends with Angel and she had known Benny. She smiled slightly to herself and shrugged slightly, "It would have been interesting seeing all of you living together." She said laughing to herself.
"Mmhmm." She said and then gasped mockingly, "You hit me... You can't hit me. I'm a lawyer. And a girl." She smiled slightly and eyed Collins for a few moments. "I could take you anyway." She added nudging him in the ribs.

"I like it better the way it is now. So don't think you missed out on something. We're actually all happy. Even Benny is happy. It's kinda...odd. Course we need to get Mark laid but there are more difficult things to do," Collins said with a smirk. "Poor Marky." He did authentically feel bad for Mark at times. There were all matched. And Mark was alone. Just like he was with Roger. Collins shook his head not wanting to let the guilt get to him.
"See...but I'm gay so it's void." Collins challenged, "So it's not brutality or something." He rolled his eyes at himself being so politically incorrect. Watching her nudge him in the ribs made him laugh. He didn't move at all. "Oh yeah...I'm trembling in my new boots."

"Yeah, poor Mark." Joanne said and smiled sympatheticly. "I feel kind of bad. I mean Maureen did leave him for me." Sighing she shrugged her shoulders, "I don't know though. I'm happy I'm friends with him. A lot of people probably wouldn't become friends with an ex-girlfriends new girlfriend. How mature." She sent Collins a smile and put her hands in her pockets. "Thank God for Maureen though. If it hadn't been for her I wouldn't know someone as wonderful as you."
Joanne nodded shortly, "Oh yeah right." She said. "And you should be trembling in you're new boots. But you should go pay for them before you do anything to them like you did to your old ones."

Collins laughed while shaking his head. "Of course cause meeting me through Mo is a lot more important than Mo herself. Seriously...it is kinda amazing how the three of you are all ok. I know if I ever saw any of my exes I would run away." He snorted to himself at the thought.
"My my Miss Joanne what are we implying?" He teased heading towards the cash register. "I'm not mean to my shoes...I just keep them forever. I think these are from...undergrad. Freshman year?" Collins asked himself looking at the boots. "Oh yeah freshman year. Could never get that ketchep stain off."

"Well it's definatly up there on my list." Joanne said smirking. She shook her head slighlty and shrugged, "I really never stayed friend with any of my exes either. And usually I never really knew many of their friends. I guess it never was that importaint to me before. I'm sure Maureen was different though because, well because she is different. And because I could tell her friends meant a lot to her. It's sweet."
"And I wasn't implying anything but if you have a guilty conscience..." She trailed off and waved her hand slightly. "Wow, you've had them since you were a Freshman? Jeez. You shouldn't keep things so long. Because then you get attatched to them, and they are just shoes."

Collins nodded slowly. "I'm with you. I don't even think I knew any of the friends of my exes. Then again I never really have healthy relationships. Probably because I was a horrible boyfriend," He shrugged at the memory. It all made sense now. Why he refused to even sleep with half the guys he dated. It was because he knew that they weren't the one. Angel was.
"I have a conscience hence it's a guilty one," Collins chuckled and shrugged again. "They're comfy. It doesn't really have to relate to emtional attachment. It's just they're all broken in. And molded to my foot. And new shoes tend to hurt my feet. They're just too damn big. I think I need to chop myself in half sometimes. I think Angel might miss it though."

"Healthy relationship is in the eye of the beholder." Joanne said and smiled slightly. All of her relationships had been the same before she met Maureen. It had gotten boring. All of her partners were like her. Joanne didn't want someone like her she was her. She wanted someone that wasn't like her but who she could still see where they were coming from, Maureen. Although it was hard to see where she was coming from some of the time. That was a whole different story though.
"Eventually the new shoes will be comfortable too. You just have to wait it out for a bit." She shrugged then laughed slightly. "You know what they say about big feet..." She shook her head and laughed a bit more as she rubbed her forehead letting out an amused sigh. "Anyway my Darling Thomas, go pay for you're shoes then we'll break them in."

"True." Collins said with a shrug. "Yeah...I guess it couldn't be too bad. I never got slugged. Almost once...but I ducked." He added with a grin. "I've always been quick on my feet...at least I like to think so. And he was drunk...so maybe it was a result of many factors."
"I know," Collins whined. "But it's that waiting in between that really gets on my nerves."
Then Collins laughed and winked. "You wonder why Angel likes my feet so much." He shook his head at himself. Sometimes his thoughts were a little too dirty. But then again Joanne started it. "Yeah let's pay for these puppies." He dropped them on the counter and pulled out his beaten up wallet.

"Well as long as he never hit you it doesn't count...?" Joanne said and shook her head slightly. "I don't even think I want to know why he tried hit you..." She reached up and rubbed his shoulder. "I can't picture why anyone would want to and thats the way we're going to keep it."
"Aww well suck it up. It can't be to bad. If you didn't wait so long between buying pairs of shoes... then you wouldn't have that problem, eh?"
Shaking her head Joanne held back her laughture, "Lucky girl I guess. Not that I'm really into that..." She said quietly as they walked up the the counter. She stood off to the side slightly and watched Collins pay for his new shoes.

Collins chuckled and shrugged. "He was drunk. Don't worry Jo I got out of there. Plus I was about three times bigger than him so even if he did hit me I would have made it out ok. And we say that Mark worries. You got a bit of that in you too, girl." Collins poked her in the side good naturely. He said that his relationships were usually unhealthy...and he meant it. But that's what made being with Angel so sweet.
"No...but...." Collins stuck his tongue out at her. "I'm buying these you should be proud enough. Took enough effort. I'll have to have a memorial for my old shoes...have Angel play taps on her pickle tub." Collins snorted at the idea. But his shoes were really good to him through the years. Only lately did they have problems.
Collins laughed and shook his head as he took out the money for the cashier. "Yeah I didn't think you'd be. That's all good. To each his or her own body part." The cashier looked a little confused but gave Collins a bag for his shoes. "Thanks, man." Collins took the bag and moved over to Joanne kissing her cheek. "Thank you for guiding me on this journey I owe you one."

Joanne shrugged as Collins poked her in her side, "Yeah, perhaps I do worry but it makes considering who we're talking about." She said and crossed her arms smiling up at him.
"I'm sure you're old shoes would be proud of the new shoes you have chosen." She gave him a solemn nod and a serious look. She laughed quietly at the look the cashier gave them then grinned at Collins. "Anytime. And shush you don't owe me anything it was just shoe shopping. It would have been easier if it weren't for the fact that you're so picky about you're shoes." She shook her head slightly patting him back on the back.

Collins stuck his tongue out at her and held the door open for her. "If Roman come knocking at my door again I'll make sure to let you know...but I really doubt that'll ever happen so don't you worry your pretty head."
"Hey if I buy shoes once every few decades I'm allowed to be picky." Collins pointed out stopping at a garbage can and pulling his old shoes off. He dangled them over the garbage can. "Would you like to say something? In rememberence?" He asked her with a serious look.
